Culture begins in Moca its concert program

With a concert held in the Duarte de Moca Park, the Ministry of Culture inaugurated this Sunday a cycle of musical presentations, an initiative that will take shows to various locations in the country with the purpose of bringing music of different genres to the entire population.
On this occasion, the Santo Domingo Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Maestro Amaury Sánchez, Vice Minister of Creativity and Artistic Training, offered a program that captivated the audience with a selection of classical and popular pieces.
“It is the beginning of a great journey that seeks the revitalization and transformation of culture throughout the Dominican Republic,” said Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo prior to the start of the concert, which was attended by the governor of Espaillat, Patricia Muñoz; the mayor of Moca, Miguel Cabral, and the provincial senator, Carlos Gómez.
The program of the concert, which is part of the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the province of Espaillat, included, among other emblematic classical pieces, the overture of “The Marriage of Figaro” by Mozart, the “Hungarian Dance No. 1” by Brahms, the overture of “The Barber of Seville” by Rossini, and the “Radetzky March” by J. Strauss.
Later, the lyric singer Janette Márquez performed classical and popular works, giving way to the second part of the concert, whose repertoire included iconic Dominican compositions, among which were “La bilirubina”, “Compadre Pedro Juan” and “Caña brava”.
In this first concert, Roberto Ángel Salcedo was accompanied by Gamal Michelén, vice minister of Cultural Heritage; Rossina Guerrero Heredia, vice minister for Decentralization and Territorial Coordination; Pastor de Moya, vice minister of Cultural Identity and Citizenship, and Alicia Baroni, vice minister of Cultural Industries.
This initiative is part of the actions undertaken by the current management of Salcedo in pursuit of decentralization and as part of the strategy of bringing art and culture to every corner of the nation, and consists of a concert program that, organized by the Vice Ministry of Creativity and Artistic Training, will include presentations by chamber groups, “big bands” and choirs in parks and squares throughout the country.
